Rodney Bush

Rodney Bush is a musical theater, film, and opera composer, as well as a keyboardist, singer and songwriter.

His musical “Stoker,” written with Eric Rosen, is currently in development, and their song cycle , “Leaves: Songs of Ourselves,” which premiered in 2022 at 54 Below, explores the queer origins of American Democracy through the lens of Walt Whitman and his poetry. This Whitman piece is being developed as a dance-centric piece with choreography by Paul McGill.

Rodney writes with Zeniba Now, the highly lauded and awarded librettist of The Loophole, composing the writing team of ZNRB they write theatre and film music that hybridizes pop and theater to create experiences that tell deep stories while also making you move. Rodney has also written a children’s musical adaptation of Around The World In 80 Days which premiered at Theatre Raleigh in 2019. 

Rodney is currently composing an opera of the poem “Out Of The Cradle Endlessly Rocking”

He is the keyboardist, co-songwriter, and co-founder of the glam rock band Tony & The Kiki. They are currently taking the world by storm with thousands of followers across various social platforms.

Rodney composes music for film and tv with his collaborator anatu. They are currently scoring two short films to be released in 2024, and have released a cross-section of their work in “___(OST).” He has worked for HBO as a composer and music editor on campaigns for “Industry” and more. He has also composed for radio, the radio play “The Gift” premiered in 2021 in Chicago. 

He has released two albums of improvisations based on adjectives sent from friends and collaborators called “Project Adjective Vol 1&2.” His album “perhaps you forgot” was released in 2021 and explores loss and regret through a neo-classical and ambient lens. He received his BM from Berklee College of music and studied Advance Composition at The Juilliard School. @rodneybush
